|Dr. Raymond Compton
Dr. Ray Compton hails from Manchester, Tennessee. Dr. Compton graduated Cum Laude from Memphis State University with a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Compton received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee and went on to complete residency in General Surgery at ETSU . He then completed a Critical Care and Nutrition fellowships at the University of Miami before accepting a position on the staff of East Tennessee State University.
Dr. Compton has been Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Critical Care. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and past president of the Tennessee chapter. Dr. Compton has served as the Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Henry County Medical Center. He is currently a Governor for Tennessee to the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Compton offers a full range of general surgical care. This includes both benign and malignant breast disease, thyroid disease, gastrointestinal surgery and endoscopy (upper endoscopy and colonoscopy). Minimally invasive gallbladder surgery, as well as similar techniques for colon, small bowel, stomach, and spleen, are standard. Dr. Compton has a special interest in the repair of hernias. This includes inguinal or groin hernias, incisional hernias, and hiatal hernias amoung others. He also has a special interest in the surgical treatment of skin cancers, as well as the surgical treatment of benign skin lesions.
